Transformers: Animated

Cartoon Network launched a new series last year, following the movie. They absorbed certain elements from the movie while retaining a similar storyline from the original cartoon. Optimus Prime is cast as younger and not much of a focus. The storyline tends to inject more humour than any previous series. Read about it here.

The first episode is here. The following episode features the Dinobots!!!

Final-fucken-ly!!!

Portishead releases news that they will be releasing their 3rd album Third in April! Fuck yeah!

But I'm not holding any high hopes...

Portishead - Glory Box (live)

Still my favourite tune! Can slit your wrist while listening to the tune!!!

I succumbed and got this from Threadless.com. I hate having a credit card. Seriously...

Heath Ledger dead...

Both Billy and Robin sent me the news about the same time. Here it is. It's kinda upsetting.

Interestingly, I've always thought the character design for his Joker is quite similar to Brandon Lee's The Crow. Probably, it's the hair.

Scruffs Hardware Advt

Apparently, the 1st model got fired in her current job as a school teacher due to her involvement in this advertisement shot a couple of years ago.

Hmm... part 19

Max always gives me shit about my love for Justin Timberlake. This is coming from a guy who listens to Take That. Seriously.

So here's my favourite Justin tune, dedicated to my buddy Max.

So cry me a river, dude but he was the one who introduced me to the Johnny Marr-produced act Haven. I rikes. However, apparently they are dropped by Virgin Records and left in limbo these days. A real pity.

Here's an acoustic tune found on Max's blog.

To The Bone

But this is my all-time favourite Haven tune. Yeah, I have this song as my ringtone. It pissed me off when people started singing along to my previous one '(I Can't Give You Anything) But My Love'.

Hosaywood

Jacen was sweet enough to mention us on his website. He's done quite a bit of short films like 'Tak Giu', 'Zo Kang', etc. He did the Lunarin music video and did the principal shooting for the Zero Sequence video. Well, I gotta pitch The Lard Brothers to score his next short film. Hurhurhur...

Here's Lunarin's video for 'Silverpiece'.

New Kids On The Block - I'll Be Loving You (Forever)

Danny was driving me back after lunch today. This song popped on over the radio. And he started singing along. Thanks, dude. You made my day...

Get Off That Thang Thang Thang!!!

This is the last and third one we are doing. I'm happy that we did an annual series of shows which focus on other forms of music rather than rock and whatever-is-the-flavour-of-the-month. We featured electronica acts and turntablists alongside with jazz, reggae and funk bands. It was fun but this should be the last time we are doing such programming. Trilogies is the in-thing until Sam Raimi decides to go ahead to do Spiderman 4. Then, quadrologies will rock our boat. Good friends Fishtank and Ugly In The Morning will be performing over the weekend.

In turn, hopefully, we'll get to do our final event in the "Spank The Monkey" series: "The Monkey Said, 'Ohh, Spank Me One Last Time!'" some time this year too. No, I'm not fucking you. That's really the name of the show.

Anyway, Robin of Camra will be sessioning for Sea Bed Sound. He's roped me in to play keyboards for them. What I mean by playing keyboards is using only 1 finger at any point in time. Yes, I'm doing an Alvin this Sunday. We are opening for the Kuala Lumpur act The Otherside Orchestra. They are a kick-ass band which moved from doing post-rock to their own blend of rock'n'roll, funk, dance and more rock'n'roll. Fer fuck's sake, they have their own strobe lighting operator. How cool is that?! Check out the video below.

Hannah Tan - Timeless Christmas

Adlin, Amran and I were just discussing about Chingz' "favourite" female Malaysian artiste. We is liking her a lot. Great video. Didn't care much about the song.

The Lard Brothers part 6

As mentioned previously, we will be performing alongside with The Karl Maka and I Am David Sparkle this Saturday at 730pm at *scape, Youth Park. Ian is handling bass duties while Yeeyong is supposed to do keyboards and guest vocals. What transpired last Sunday during rehearsal was:

Yeeyong: Eh, how do you sing the bridge for 'Enemy'?

Ian: (after demonstration) Okay, now I taught you. You do it.

Me: Go for it lah.

Ian: I can't! I'm playing the bass. Can't sing at the same time. Very shy about it.

So we rehearsed a little. Yeeyong sang a bit.

Ian: Eh, your pitching is quite off at certain parts.

Yeeyong: Fuck lah, you do it then.

With the mike "in hand", Ian did the entire song in gusto and the cover of 'Girl From Katong' as well. Shy, my fucken ass. So Ian will be helping us on lead vocals this Saturday. Come down and watch his maiden live karaoke effort. I mean, how can you say no to a face like this?

Scotch Mist

The live clip which Radiohead had recorded prior before the New Year. It was streamed on New Year's Eve.

Dear Rockers

Got this link from Linda Na. It's pretty funny. You get to write to your favourite rockers to apologise for downloading their music and send them some money to make up for it. My favourite which I've read so far has to be this:

Dear Bryan (Adams),

I’m not really a big fan but one day when I was a weak I downloaded Summer of ‘69. I just wanted to see if you sounded as cool to me as an adult as you did when I was a kid. Kinda sorta.

I’m including both US and Canadian $ - I know you are a Canadian boy but sometimes you just seem so American.

Heartfelt sorry,
David

Linda liked this:

Dear, Mr. (Axl) Rose,
I’m sorry, I hope you won’t invite me to “get in the ring,” but I downloaded some of your soon-to-be-finished songs from the soon-to-be-released Chinese Democracy. It made me feel good, it made me feel cheap and it made me feel guilty. So in return, I wanted to give you back the $17 (one dollar for every year you have spent polishing this gem in the studio/writing/recording/ranting). We all know that this is going to be the greatest album of all time. (Sorry, Kid Rock). Please forgive me Axl. I know it is wrong for me (even as one of your biggest “straight” fans) to listen to your music prematurely – before you are happy with each version. I know that this is the last thing you would want to happen. So in return, please use this money to fund the following to help get this masterpiece completed.

the cost of hiring a new guitarist
the cost of firing a new guitarist
the cost of remixing your vocals till it sounds like you are putting your leg in a woodchipper while strangling a cat.
applications (printing costs)
lawyers & accountants
stack of blank CDs (the re-writable kind)
Buckethead’s buckets
Hate
octagon (for solving disputes)
Calvin Klein Cologne
the rights to the word “bee-yatch”
extra recording time for “RANTS”

Best Regards,
Jeff

Congrats!!!

My buddy, Noel is getting married soon and going to be a dad! It's really great to see him and Ant doing so well! All the best, dude! Have fun raising a kid in this crazy world!!! I can help out playing with him/ her and feeding the lil rug rat. But changing diapers are out. A soiled diaper is like Kryptonite to me...

Confessions Of A Soundsmith: Cacophony

*scape

The Lard Brothers will be performing with Kitty Wu Records' 2 acts electro-pop act The Karl Maka and our good friends from the post-rocking I Am David Sparkle at *scape, Youth Park on Saturday 12 January 2008. Tickets are at S$5.00 per pop.

We go on at 8pm and will be playing some covers from our upcoming album Forest Action Team. Yeeyong is helping us out on vocals and keyboards for this show. Due to budget contraints, we will not be bringing out the strippers for this show.

Sorry, next show perhaps?
